Stavanger, Norway & Brooklyn, New York - Arcangel Surfware, the multinational merchandise and software company founded by artist Cory Arcangel, is pleased to announce a closeout sale at its Norwegian flagship store. The sale will feature once in a lifetime deals, with prices too good to be true - EVERTYTHING MUST GO - and will be held on Saturday, Oct 5th, at Lervigsveien 25, Stavanger, Norway from 1200-1500.

Founded in 2014 by Cory Arcangel, Arcangel Surfware is a “multinational software & merchandise publisher” based in Brooklyn, NY, and Stavanger, Norway. Existing in parallel with Arcangel’s artistic practice, the brand––which produces wearables and publishes texts, software, and artists’ projects––posits retail as an alternative way to circulate art and engage with audiences.

In 2018, Arcangel Surfware opened its only brick-and-mortar flagship in Stavanger, Norway. The flagship is located in a historically protected storefront in Stavanger, Norway’s Øst neighborhood. Just 30 seconds from the waterfront, the 60 sq meter space—a former canning factory, and more recently rifle shop—was designed by Stavanger based architects Dionne & Associates in collaboration with Arcangel Surfware founder Cory Arcangel. The space also hosts Flagship A.S., an in-house gallery which has shown exhibitions by Burt Barr, Steina and Woody Vasulka, Nick Relph & Oliver Payne, and Nick DeMarco (last day during sale!), among others.

Built on an "anti-Amazon" model of commerce, Arcangel Surfware has an almost reactionary retail structure, where the products are not readily accessible, easy to attain, or permanently available throughout time or space. Instead the brand requires deliberate effort from its customers, forcing effort and strategy to purchase into the brand. When the brand dis-banded its web-store in 2018, the shop was the EXCLUSIVE way to purchase Arcangel Surfware goods. Aside from brief - and critically acclaimed - pop-up facsimile appearances at DSMLA, NYABF, and the New Museum, the Norwegian flagship - open only 3 hours a week - has been the only permanent location to shop Arcangel Surfware worldwide. The goal of the flagship was to provide its clients with an site specific and exclusive shopping experience outside of the normal lanes of commerce, but also, the normal metropolitan centers.

The closeout sale will be the last Saturday the shop will be open. Arcangel Surfware will continue to exist. The flagship space will be retro-fitted into a software lab by Arcangel Surfware's parent company, Arcangel Studio, in preparation for a top-secret software product to launch in 2021. Flagship A.S. the in-house gallery will remain, and present events sporadically.

For this one-day event, all in stock items will be marked down with huge discounts. This is the first major sale on Surfware gear and will only be available IRL at our Norwegian flagship. 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, ... EVERYTHING MUST GO! ACT NOW! In stock will be our newest release - custom logo Pop Sockets for optimal phone surfing. Also available will be releases from the 2019 Scanner Painting capsule collection. The shop will also have items from the past 3 years of Arcangel Surfware production. Items will include sweat pants and hoodies from the 2015 & 2016 Fuck Negativity series, multi-function scarfs, as well as magazines and books published by the brand.

Cory Arcangel said, “After nearly 2 years, I couldn`t be more happy with Arcangel Surfware`s brick and mortar presence in Stavanger. I can't go anywhere in Stavanger without seeing the logo! And also special thanks to everyone who travelled long and far to visit. But, make no mistake, this is a MAJOR SALE ONCE IN A LIFETIME SALE. DO NOT MISS!! :))”
