Stavanger, Norway & Brooklyn, New York - Arcangel Surfware, the multinational merchandise and software company founded by composer, entrepreneur & artist Cory Arcangel is pleased to announce it’s participation in the 2019 New York Art Book Fair. Arcangel Surfware will construct a micro facsimile of its Norwegian flagship store at the fair, hosted by Printed Matter at Moma PS1 and running September 19-22.

Founded in 2014 by Cory Arcangel, Arcangel Surfware is a “multinational software & merchandise publisher” based in Brooklyn, NY, and Stavanger, Norway. Existing in parallel with Arcangel’s artistic practice, the brand––which produces wearables and publishes texts, software, and artists’ projects––posits retail as an alternative way to circulate art and engage with audiences.

Previously based online, Arcangel Surfware is now only available IRL—at pop-up events and at its brick-and-mortar flagship in Stavanger, Norway, which opened in 2018. For this four-day event, presented as part of the New York Art Book Fair, Arcangel Surfware will create a bespoke retail environment - a micro version of the brands Norwegian flagship - featuring recent and classic products from Arcangel Surfware.

In this specially constructed pop-up, Arcangel Surfware will premiere its newest release - custom logo Pop Sockets for optimal phone surfing. The brand will also showcase its 2019 Scanner Painting capsule collection - a new line of hand sewn frequent flyer neck pillows, and two new tee-shirts. All these items are based on Arcangel's recent scanner painting series of work. Recently debuted in a critically acclaimed installation at Dover Street Market LA, these items are based on and manufactured from upcycled scraps from Arcangel's recent scanner painting series of work

In addition, the pop-up will also showcase items from the past 3 years of Arcangel Surfware production. Items will include sweat pants and hoodies from the 2015 & 2016 Fuck Negativity series, multi-function scarfs, as well as magazines and books published by the brand.

We hope 2 c u there! :))
